Our History

Adventures in Good Company (AGC) was founded in 1999 by Marian Marbury, driven by a vision to empower women through outdoor adventure. AGC was built on the foundation of offering fun, supportive, and challenging trips where women of all backgrounds and abilities are celebrated. Before launching AGC, Marian traveled and guided for Woodswomen, a pioneering non-profit that championed women’s outdoor recreation and leadership. At its height in 1993, Woodswomen ran 59 domestic and 11 international trips, from cross-country skiing in Minnesota to summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. When Woodswomen closed its doors in 1999, Marian sought to continue its legacy with AGC, upholding core principles like emotional and physical safety, personal choice, and fostering meaningful connections with each other and the environment. Over the past two decades, AGC has grown steadily, attracting a community of like-minded adventurers and expert guides who share a passion for authentic, value-driven travel experiences. In 2020, Kelly Kimple took the helm, bringing new energy and a continued commitment to the principles that have defined AGC from the start.
