Gifts for women who already have a lot

What do you give to the woman who has everything - or at least anything she doesn't have is not something you can afford to get her anyway?

gift ideas for women

Here are five categories of gifts that show someone you care about them and don't risk just ending up in the closet.

  1. An experience. I started thinking about this issue when several adult kids went in on the Waterfalls, Wildflowers, and Wineries trip for their mom. Her husband had recently died and they were looking for something that might help her start thinking about this next phase of her life. Or if adventure travel isn't the recipient's cup of tea, how about an afternoon riding or cooking lesson? This can be a particularly thoughtful gift for someone who may need a little encouragement to try something new.

  2. A donation to a nonprofit that does work your gift recipient supports or helps the citizens of a country your recipient has just returned from. An animal lover? How about a local rescue group or an international conservation group. Sports nut? Maybe an organization that offers kids positive sports experiences. Supporter of women's rights? There are some groups doing exciting work with girls' empowerment. You get the idea.

  3. Something you make. When I was in graduate school, I made fruitcakes for everyone in my family. Now I make bags of healthy and delicious granola. Obviously if you are crafty, the possibilities are endless.

  4.  A date with you. Maybe you go to their house and make a delicious dinner. Or maybe it's a movie and pizza. Even if it's someone you already spend a lot of time with, making it into a Big Deal can still make it special.

  5. Doing a chore. Maybe you've noticed that their lawn still has lots of leaves on it, or their front door trim badly needs painting.

In relation to gifts, we all know that it's the thought that counts. These all show just how thoughtful you are.
