Trip Info

This adventure is ideal for women in good physical condition who are ready to actively explore the Galapagos for 3 to 5 hours each day. Activities include hiking, swimming, and kayaking, with most hikes being moderate, except for the more challenging hike up Sierra Negra Volcano. The days are packed with exploration, and some will require early starts. There are multiple opportunities to snorkel, so being comfortable in the water is essential to fully enjoy this experience. Please be aware that there are several speedboat transfers throughout the trip. While the ocean is very active with wildlife we will be transferring between islands via speedboat, so this trip may not be the best fit for those who are highly prone to seasickness. As with all international travel, flexibility is key. Embracing the local culture and setting aside certain Western expectations will enhance your enjoyment of this incredible journey. Rating: 1 [2] 3 4 5.

This is truly a multisport exploration of the Galapagos Islands. Wildlife watching is a primary activity in the Galapagos and in addition we'll kayak, swim, snorkel, and hike. Our Galapagos guides will make sure you leave with an understanding of the complex ecosystem and interesting history.

We will spend the first night at the Hotel San Jose de Puembo (or similar) and the last night at the Hotel San Vicente (or similar). In the Galapagos we'll be staying at three different beautiful hotels (see itinerary for specifics). Hotel rooms are double occupancy with ensuite bathrooms unless you have requested a single supplement.
Of note: Purified/filtered water is available (free of charge) at all the accommodations that will be used during your trip. Water will be provided in large containers to enable you to fill and re-fill your personal water bottles and/or hydration systems.

Below is the proposed itinerary for the trip. As is true on any adventure travel trip, plans for any specific day may be modified due to weather considerations, unforeseen circumstances, new opportunities, and group interests.

DAY 1
Our trip starts in Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Ecuador's Capital City. At over 9,000 feet, Quito is the highest capital city in the world, and it is possible to experience some symptoms of breathlessness as you walk around. Our hotel is located in Quito while the airport is located outside of the city. There will be a shuttle from the airport to your hotel based on when you arrive. If you land early and want to get to the hotel before this timeline, we will help you arrange a shuttle for an extra fee. We'll then gather in the lobby for introductions and a trip orientation before sharing our first dinner together.

Overnight: Hotel San Jose de Puembo or similar (D)
DAY 2
The group will spend the day exploring the heart of Quito’s historical center, wandering through its beautifully preserved streets, admiring the sweeping views from Panecillo Hill, and visiting iconic landmarks like the Basilica and San Francisco Church. After lunch, we’ll visit the Equator Museum to stand at the center of the world and then head to Pululahua Crater, one of the few inhabited volcanic calderas, offering stunning views and a connection with nature.

Overnight: Hotel San Jose de Puembo (B,L,D)
DAY 3
Today, we’ll fly to the Galapagos Islands, arriving at San Cristóbal where the real adventure begins. Upon arrival, we’ll dive into a vibrant cooking class led by a local expert, learning how to prepare fresh Galapagos ceviche. The afternoon will be ours to explore the nearby beaches, stroll along scenic trails, or simply relax in this breathtaking setting.

Overnight: Hotel Galapagos Planet or similar (B, L, D)
DAY 4
Departing early, we'll be picked up from the hotel between 6:50 and 7:50 a.m. and escorted to the pier to embark on a journey to Kicker Rock, a stunning landmark about an hour off the coast of San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos. Known as León Dormido for its resemblance to a sleeping lion, or Kicker Rock for its boot-like shape, this dual volcanic formation stands 140 meters high and serves as a beacon for marine life and birds. After navigating from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, we'll snorkel in the channel between the rocks, teeming with sharks, manta rays, and colorful fish. The afternoon includes a beach visit and a short hike, plus a lunch onboard.

Overnight: Hotel Galapagos Planet or similar (B, L, D)
DAY 5
After a scenic boat transfer to Puerto Ayora, the group will settle into our charming hotel and enjoy a delicious local lunch. DAY 6
Bartolome is the most beautiful and photographed destination in the archipelago. It is a volcanic islet just off the east coast of Santiago Island. The main attraction of the island is the Pinnacle Rock, it is a big lava formation that over time has eroded. This morning we will transfer to the passenger pier to board the speedboat that will take us to Bartolome Island. After arriving on land, we will take the trail climb to the top of the extinct volcano. This trail has around 300 stairs, and at the top we will be rewarded with spectacular landscape views that make up the island. Later, we will snorkel from the shore where there is a good chance to see marine wildlife, including the possibility to see Galapagos penguins!

Overnight: Hotel Deja Vu or similar (B, L, D)
DAY 7
After breakfast, we will transfer via boat to Tortuga Bay, one of the top 10 beaches in the world on Santa Cruz Island. Tortuga Bay is on the top 10 beaches in the world according to TripAdvisor for its uniqueness. It is also an amazing place to enjoy surfing classes, whether you are a beginner or a pro! Get ready to ride these amazing waves in one of the most beautiful spots in Galapagos. In the afternoon after lunch, we will board a speedboat to travel to Isabela Island and arrive to Puerto Villamil. There will be time to take in the new surroundings and enjoy the hotel for the night.

Overnight: Hotel San Vicente or similar (B, L, D)
DAY 8
Today, we’ll embark on an unforgettable adventure to Los Tuneles, a unique system of lava formations creating tunnels and arches over clear, calm waters. Considered one of the best snorkeling destinations in the world, this spot offers the group the chance to swim with sea turtles, rays, and even reef sharks. Guided by local experts, we’ll navigate the shallow waters, surrounded by the surreal beauty of volcanic landscapes and abundant marine life.

Overnight: Hotel San Vicente or similar (B, L, D)
DAY 9
We’ll take an early morning speedboat from Isabela to Puerto Ayora, a scenic 2.5-hour journey across the open sea. After arriving, we’ll transfer to Baltra Airport, crossing the Itabaca Channel by ferry before taking a short bus ride to the terminal. From there, we’ll catch our flight back to Quito, bringing our Galapagos adventure to a close.
